Eyebrow trends really started to become a "thing" when silent films were created. Since then the styles in eyebrow shapes have gone from straight to super thin, round arch to thick at least twice. The current trend is currently on the thicker side with a high straight arch. As a esthetician I prefer to emphasize people's natural arch and not fight nature.
"Today, it's the hottest trend; Yep, the well-defined brow, ladies and gentlemen is the new pouty lip...the well groomed, and perfectly arched brow is dominating the beauty landscape. The eyebrow has been the center of public attention for the last few years; bringing with it plenty of new trends." -Hapari
The most well known and most effective way to avoid skin cancer is to wear broad spectrum sunscreen and avoid laying out in the sun, But getting a little bit of sun here and there is unavoidable for most people. Routine facials can be more then just a beauty treatment , they also can help reduce your chance of certain cancers (when used in addition to the aforementioned), The exfoliation process during a facial can reduce the actinic keratosis (a overgrowth of skin layers resulting from sun exposer) which can develop into squamous cell cancer if not treated.
People often get sensitive skin confused with sensitized skin. Sensitive is a skin type that is genetic and something you can be born with. Sensitized is a skin condition you can develop and can get worse from the wear and tear of life: weather , pollution, skin care products and lifestyle choices. No skin type is immune with out regular care which includes regular facials and skin products (especially sunscreen and toner) suited for your skin, drinking lots of water, and a healthy diet.
Back facials are just like a facial except on your back. A deep cleanse(s), steam, exfoliation, extractions (if needed), mask, massage and moisturizer treatment customized to fit your skin care needs . I think of them as a glorified massage that not only leaves you feeling refreshed but with spotlight worthy skin.
"Back Facials are a great service to have throughout the year. Not only do Back Facials help prepare your skin for a summer season full of bikinis, bathing suits and strapless dresses, but this service targets annoying conditions that can happen year-round like back acne." Skin spirit
"Sensitive skin is a lay term rather than a medical diagnosis. It is generally used to describe skin with reduced tolerance to the application of cosmetics and personal care products. In surveys, approximately 50% of women and 40% of men may report having sensitive skin. "-DermNet NZ
If you have sensitive skin you can still get a facial treatment and all its benefits . First make sure you talk to your esthetician about your skin sensitivities, They will then use products that are hypoallergenic & preform gentler procedures. The results of a facial for sensitive skin are a better complexion, reduced inflammation, and improved immunity which can prevent future irritations.
Have you ever heard its not good to pick your skin... ever wonder why ? When you pick skin without the proper
tools you increase your chance of spreading the infection (pustule is the most common) , making the infection worse and cause scarring. Leave the extractions to the professionals. They have the tools, products and knowledge to extract the infection along with other dirt and oils trapped in the skin (black heads) without causing harm to the skin during a facial.
3.5 million people in the US get basal and squamous cell skin cancer each year , to help avoid being one of them follow these sunscreen steps.
1. Look for a product that contains both zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. These two mineral ingredients help create a physical barrier protecting skin against UVB and UVA rays better then any other ingredients.
2. Look for products that say "broad spectrum" which means they protect against UVA and UVB (some products only protect against one or the other).
3. Avoid products with these chemical ingredients: Oxybenzone, Octinoxate, Retinyl Palmitate ( vitamin A), Homosalate, Octocrylene, Paraben preservatives . These ingredients are known to cause allergic reactions, hormone disruption, premature aging and cancer.
4. Wear sunscreen on cloudy days , even on those gray days the sun is out and able to attack your skin.
5. Look for a sunscreen with 30 spf.
A bad diet effects your skin's health as much as it does the rest of your body. Refined sugar in the body causes inflammation which produces enzymes that break down collagen and elastin equaling sagging skin , wrinkles and more. Not only does sugar increase the effects of premature aging but can also cause skin conditions like rosacea and acne. Stop spending your money on wrinkles caused by sugar and start saving it for facials that help make your skin look younger, feel better and prevents wrinkles by reducing stress and dehydration.
There is a facial for all skin types and ages. When you get a facial that best fits your skin care needs your skin's ph becomes more balanced and therefor less dry or oily. Facials help get rid of dead skin and speed up your cell turn over rate giving you softer and fresher looking skin. Facials can clear up all sorts of "trouble" areas. Regular facials and home care can fade dark spots, clear up acne, hydrate dryness, reduce redness and lessen the appearance of wrinkles and lines and prevent new ones from forming.
Men and women should get a customized facial once a week but at least once a month for optimum skin health and appearance.
Facials are similar to a workout to the body except they are for the skin , and are usually way more relaxing then a workout (warning you may even fall asleep during a facial). Facials speed up circulation to the skin, remove toxins and dead skin, and increase the growth of cells and collagen. Increasing the flow of oxygen-enriched blood to skin cells.
"This rush of blood to the skin gives your skin a healthy glow and plumps skin cells with vital nutrients and water , which reduces the appearance of wrinkled and dry skin. " -Livestrong
